Psalm 119:1-16

The purpose of this blog is to encourage one another as we teach God's word at Brookwood Baptist Church in Hillsboro, Oregon.  One of the ways that we can do this is to share creative ideas during the week for the upcoming lesson.  No need to post complete lesson plans, unless you'd like to, but post your ideas as they come up any time during the week.  It will really help us get our creative juices flowing!

This week we will be studying Psalm 119:1-16.  It is amazing how many times the Psalmist makes reference to God's word.  In the first 16 verses alone the Psamlist refers to God's word 15 times!  It may be fun to start out class with a kind of game to see who can guess the number of times the Psalmist refers to God's word.

Here's some stats, by my own count:
    In the first 16 verses:
        15 times
In the whole chapter (176 verses):
        171 times

In NIV, I counted the following as references to God's word:  "law", "statutes", "precepts", "decrees", "commands", "word" and "promise".
